Job Description

Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

Full-time or Fractional

About Sinopia Biosciences:

Sinopia Biosciences is a privately held biotechnology company backed by life sciences investors advancing novel therapeutics using its proprietary LEADS® (LEarn And DiScover) drug discovery platform.

Sinopia's lead development program, SB-0110, is a first-in-class small molecule for Parkinson's disease (PD). SB-0110 modulates PKA-II, a genetically validated target, and has demonstrated the potential to provide dual benefit by improving the symptoms of PD while reducing levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID).

Current approaches often require balancing improvements in motor symptoms against complications associated with chronic levodopa treatment. SB-0110 has the potential to change that balance by addressing both within a single therapy. For patients, this could mean more than symptom management. It could mean better movement, greater independence, and additional years with higher quality of life.

Sinopia is advancing SB-0110 through IND/CTA-enabling studies and plans to initiate clinical studies in the first half of 2027. As the company transitions into clinical development, Sinopia is seeking an experienced and highly engaged Chief Medical Officer to lead the clinical and medical strategy.

The position may be structured as either a full-time or fractional executive role, depending on the experience and availability of the successful candidate.

Position Summary:

The Chief Medical Officer will be a key member of Sinopia's executive leadership team and will have primary responsibility to lead and execute Sinopia’s clinical development plan.

This is both a strategic and operational role. The CMO will design and execute the clinical development strategy while also working hands-on with the Sinopia team, investigators, consultants, CROs, regulators, and other external partners to ensure a successful execution of Sinopia’s clinical program.

Initially, the CMO's primary responsibility will be to ensure advancing SB-0110 from IND-enabling development to first-in-human studies and clinical proof of concept in Parkinson's disease. The CMO will be responsible for clinical development planning, trial design and execution, medical oversight, safety assessment, and interpretation of emerging clinical data.

The CMO will also serve as a senior external representative of Sinopia and its programs, communicating the company's clinical strategy and scientific rationale to investors, pharmaceutical partners, clinical investigators and KOLs, regulators, the Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in neurology drug development with the judgment, adaptability, and hands-on orientation required to build a clinical-stage biotechnology company.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Development Strategy

  • Design and execute the clinical development strategy for SB-0110 and future programs.
  • Lead the clinical programs from first-in-human studies through proof of concept and later-stage development.
  • Lead key clinical development decisions, including milestones, risk assessment, and Go/No-Go recommendations.

Clinical & Regulatory Leadership

  • Oversee the design and execution of early-phase clinical trials, including study design, endpoints, dose selection, safety, and data interpretation.
  • Lead clinical and medical aspects of regulatory strategy, including IND/CTA submissions and interactions with regulatory authorities.
  • Lead and supervise the clinical development team

External & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Build and maintain relationships with clinical investigators, KOLs, CROs, consultants, and other external development partners.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO, Board, R&D, Regulatory, Business Development, and other functions to advance company objectives.

Corporate & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Sinopia with investors, pharmaceutical partners, clinical KOLs, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide clinical and medical leadership in fundraising, partnering, diligence, and other strategic discussions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MD or equivalent medical degree; board certification in Neurology or a related specialty preferred.
  • Significant experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology clinical development, with a track record of advancing novel therapeutics through early clinical development, ideally in neurology, Parkinson’s disease, or movement disorders.
  • Demonstrated experience advancing programs through IND/CTA, first-in-human, Phase 1/2, and clinical proof of concept.
  • Strong understanding of clinical pharmacology, dose selection, safety assessment, biomarkers, endpoints, and early proof-of-concept strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate scientific, clinical, regulatory, and business considerations into clear development decisions.
  • Experience working effectively with CROs, consultants, clinical investigators, and other external development partners.
  • Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable operating hands-on in a small, fast-moving biotechnology company.
  • Strong executive communication skills and credibility with investors, Boards, pharmaceutical partners, regulators, and clinical KOLs.
  • Experience participating in biotechnology financings, pharmaceutical partnering discussions, licensing transactions, or M&A diligence preferred.
